Careers in Mathematics & Statistics
This article in the Wall Street Journal rates Mathematicians and Statisticians in the top three jobs.
The New York Times says “For Today’s Graduate, Just One Word: Statistics”. The article quotes Hal Varian, chief economist at Google. “I keep saying that the sexy job in the next 10 years will be statisticians. And I’m not kidding.”
Many of the graduates of our programmes go on to jobs that are not primarily "Mathematical" - see NUIM Mathematics Graduate Profiles for more information. The skills of self reliance, independent thinking, organisational ability, computer literacy and problem-solving that are developed in our students are useful in a wide range of occupations.
