## Welcome to the Department of Mathematics & Statistics

 Professor Timothy Gowers, Berkeley Lecture speaker, 2012 with some members of the Department of Mathematics & Statistics.

The Department offers a wide variety of undergraduate programmes which include courses involving Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Studies and Statistics.

There are also extensive opportunities for postgraduate study, involving either course work or research project work. Postgraduate courses include Higher Diplomas in Mathematical Studies, Mathematics or Statistics and also Taught Masters programmes: MSc in Mathematics, MA in Mathematics and MSc in Mathematics for Education.

Postgraduate research degrees may be undertaken at either Masters (MLitt, MSc) or PhD level over a wide range of fields - see our research groups and proposed research projects for more information.
